Health & Safety

Health and safety of our children, families and staff at Harbour EL are a top priority in all facets of our daily routines and operations. Harbour EL have a suite of policies and procedures that are required by the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011). We regularly revise and update these important documents to comply with the requirements of the regulatory bodies at both a state and national level. We also monitor the updates as required on behalf of the National Quality Framework and the NSW Department of Education Early Childhood.

Directions for COVID-19 and variants procedures will be implemented on the advice and direction of the NSW Department of Education Early Childhood and the NSW Department of Health. Families will be advised of the procedures to be implemented.

Harbour EL implements the requirements for Child Safe Standards which identify how to operate safely for children, encouraging Cultural safety with consideration and celebration in diversity.

We adhere to The Australian Government National Health and Medical Research Council’s recommendations as outlined in ‘Staying Healthy Exclusion Guidelines for Childhood Illnesses’. HEPA filtration systems are located in each classroom and the cot room. At the end of each day our centre is commercially cleaned.

Harbour EL Uniform Shop

Harbour EL is proud to have partnered with Australian children’s clothing designer Summer and Storm to assist in designing and curating our own sustainable uniforms. The materials used for our uniforms are organic based and have been ethically and sustainably sourced. The Harbour EL uniforms are produced within GOTS, WRAP and SEDEX certified environments.

Our uniforms are custom designed for durability and washability, and aim to have minimal environmental and social impact. The clothing pieces are widely recognised for their fabric’s comfort and resilience, allowing families to benefit from being able to pass on clothing from one sibling to the next.

Our hats have been made with an appropriately sun safe brim size and without cords and toggles, which can be a choking hazard. All our clothing and hats come in a range of sizes and a size guide is available on the uniform shop link on our website.

Child Care Subsidy (CCS) Information

We are a registered provider for the Government Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and Harbour EL can assist and support you with claiming CCS entitlements. We will ensure you are able to maximise your CCS benefit to ensure your family receives the most support as your child embarks on their next adventure with us. Government CCS  has been increased to $530,000 as on July 2023, meaning more families will have access to government support for care.

CCS is available for eligible families. This is a single payment system made directly to childcare services, which supplements the fees paid by families. The percentage of CCS you will receive is calculated according to your estimated annual family income, level of approved activity and type of childcare. To receive the CCS you must create or update your family account with Centrelink (Department of Human Services) online prior to your child’s first day of care. If you do not do this, you will pay full fees for childcare.

  • The Child Care Subsidy is paid directly to the registered provider (Harbour EL) and is passed on to families as a reduction in total fee. Families pay the registered provider the difference between the total daily fee and the CCS amount paid for by the Government.

  • All of the current information related to How to Claim for the CCS is available on this Services Australia website page.

  • A CCS Calculator can be accessed through the Service Australia website for families to calculate their estimated entitlement.

Our Harbour EL Handbooks also provide more information regarding the Childcare Subsidy (CCS).
